When adding a goats milk cheese to the selection of cheeses in The Deli, it was an obvious choice to add Vigneron by Woodside Cheese Wrights.
Woodside has an interesting tale of how this fabulous cheese was created.
“This cheese was created to showcase the vine leaves and wines from our vineyard, Coriole in McLaren Vale. We specially select vine leaves to wrap the young cheeses in and gently wash the cheese in white wine.
When ripe this cheese will ooze a velvety paste and give you an exceptionally pleasing mouthfill, full of complexity. You can eat the leaves, but that is a matter of taste. The flavour of Vigneron is pleasantly earthy.
The cheese comes about a little accidentally. By way of a cheesemaker v winemaker challenge “ how about making us a special cheese ” the winemaker challenged and this was the result, marrying our cheese and wine.”
