Description

Madonna delle Grazie 2013 Liscone Aglianico del Vulture *DOCG 750ml

The Liscone vineyard was planted in one of the premier regions for growing Aglianico: near the village of Venosa on the volcanic soils of Mount Vulture at 400-500m above sea level. After fermentation, the wine was aged in a mix of new and old French Oak tonneaux (500L) to fix the colour and start to tame the renown tannins of the grape. Look for a bright ruby colour, light caramel and dark fruit aromas; a medium bodied palate with lively acidity; and a long, mineral laden finish with firm, but approachable tannins that indicate a long aging potential.

*DOCG stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita. This is the highest classification Italian wines can be awarded. It means that there are controlled production methods and guaranteed wine quality with each bottle.
